If you wear one thing this week… #16

…make it a pair of cargo pants! Oh I know what you’re thinking… This is a tricky one and therefore only 6 foot tall skinny waifs can pull these off? Wrong! I will admit these pants have a difficult aspect to them, but nothing a bit of good styling can’t fix. It’s all about playing with proportions. These pants have been seen on everyone from models, to actresses, to mums lately and are going to be even more popular once Autumn kicks in. Think of them as your harem pants substitute for when its windy and wet out!

Cargo pants work best with a pair of heels that could give you vertigo! But if you are blessed with long slender limbs you can get away with a pair of flat pumps. Wear with floaty chiffon tops tucked in – long slouchy cardigans – a smart fitted blazer – a basic tee-shirt – an oversize jumper – or a vest. All cargo pants are not of the skinny variety, so if this is what scares you off, try a more loose-fitting pair like Victoria Beckham above. I’ve seen divine silk cargo pants that would work on most figures. Keep the other parts of your outfit colour simple and opt for complementing shades such as white, beige, black, grey and tan.

How I will wear my cargo pants this week: I recently picked up a pair of cargo pants in H&M with the intention of keeping them for my weekend wardrobe. But this weekend I have other plans that involve getting far more dressed up so I’m going to throw them on some morning this week. I’ll team them with a chalk coloured tee-shirt, an oversized blazer and tan heels to keep it work appropriate.

If you are in the buying mood: ASOS have a great pair of cargo pants with really cute detailing at the waist. The dark khaki shade will suit your Autumn wardrobe! Part with your cash here….
