Festival Season on Metro Chica!

via weheartit

Its official folks, Festival Season in Ireland kicks off this weekend with Vantastival in Louth! This Summer I’m so excited by the festivals on offer and the line ups that are slowly beginning to take shape. For Metro Chica, I’ve decided to focus on the smaller, boutique style events that give support and recognition to our own incredible musicians as well as international talent. While Oxegen and Electric Picnic are shaping up to be crowd-pullers, I’m more looking forward to Vantastival, Sea Sessions, Cold Pro, Temple House and Castlepalooza (amongst others…). My aim is to get to as many of these as possible and snap the style, atmosphere and music on show. More than ever, we need to support our own and I look forward to a Summer of fun & frolics in fields all over the country listening to the likes of The Kanyu Tree, The Young Folk and The Danger Is (3 of my favourite right now).
If you’ve nothing else planned for this bank holiday weekend, why not head to Dunany Estate in Louth for the amazing Vantastival. Its gonna be a lovely sunny dry weekend so get your weekend tickets (€85) or day tickets (€40) and listen to the likes of Wallis Bird, Jamie Lawson, The Cast of Cheers & The Riptide Movement. Also its a BYOB festival  – what more could you want!!!

*I just spotted that music loving lady Eyes Bigger Than My Belly is in the throes of planning her Vantastival outfits – make sure you say hi if you see her!*

A short post (and a song)

I have been obsessing over this song since I heard it used at the end of the World Cup coverage on RTE last night. Apologies for the crap post today but I’m off to hospital tomorrow for an operation on my knee so my mind is elsewhere :-) Normal blogging duties will resume soon, fingers crossed! Till then….

Metric – ‘Gold Guns Girls’

This week I mostly loved… #15

The song: Mark Ronson & The Business INTL feat. Q-Tip, ‘Bang Bang Bang

The event: Sea Sessions, Bundoran

The trailer: His & Hers (great Irish movie – go see it!!!!)

The article: NY Times covers the resort collections

The outfit: Nicole Richie in a cream Winter Kate kimono, navy tunic, vintage Pierre Cardin evening bag, Louboutin heels and House of Harlow 1960 jewelry

The making of Oh No! Marina rocks my world :-)

I am a huge fan of Marina & The Diamonds! From the first time I heard her sing, I was hooked on her voice, her look, her personality and her ambition. Yet strangely enough, I have yet to see her play live! I think shes back in Ireland in November so hopefully someone will think its a great birthday present ;-D

Anyhow, her new single ‘Oh No!‘ is due any day now and I came across this little ‘making the video‘ piece online recently. Needless to say I think its looks great! All paintbox colours, cute dresses, choreographed moves and exaggerated facial expressions… And then who pops up in the middle of the behind the scenes commentary? None other than Irish stylist extraordinaire Celestine Cooney! If you aren’t aware of this lady, check out her blog here. Can’t wait to see the finished product!
