The Zoe Kravitz way

I love this pic of Zoe Kravitz at the NY premiere of X-Men First Class this week. Not many of us could get away with a velvet full length Alexander Wang dress, tousled hair and smoky eyes. Zoe does, because shes a laid back, hippy chick who’s doing things her own way! She’s also ASOS mag’s cover girl for July so check her out here

ASOS & Jessica Szohr

I’ve been vocal about my love for Jessica Szohr on the blog before, so I was delighted to see that she’s the covergirl for ASOS mag for November! The interview is very insightful and gives you a feeling that Jessica is very much your girl-next-door type. Recorded during New York Fashion Week this year, Jessica tells us that her style icon is Kate Moss, and that she loves vintage clothing and sweaters! Her favourite designers are Proenza Schouler, Rebecca Minkoff, Jenny Packham, Chris Benz, Current/Elliott and Burberry. Read the magazine here.

Olivia Palermo covers ASOS

Olivia Palermo got her first UK cover this month, gracing the cover of ASOS August online magazine. Shot in New York, some in black & white, Olivia looks like the camera just caught her on film as she went about her everyday life. I especially love the b&w image of her in the fedora. My favourite outfit is that of the beige trousers/white vest combo. In the article Olivia mentions that her wardrobe staples are a blazer, leather and French Sole ballet flats – a girl after my own heart! Interestingly, she also states that it only takes her 45 minutes to get ready – including hair and makeup! All clothes featured are, or will be, available from the ASOS site.

If you wear one thing this week… #8

…make it a parka jacket! Or any sort of military style jacket for that matter. Yes the parka is being embraced in a whole new way this year. Normally the sort of item you might spot in the A/W collections, the trusty parka has suddenly become a summer staple (and when living in Ireland this totally makes sense)! A parka will see you from the office to the bar to a festival to a BBQ and home again, and you can bundle it up in the corner when you’re not wearing it – my kind of perfect!

…make it shorts! Yes that age old summer wardrobe item seems to be everywhere this year, so there really is no excuse not to get those pins out in a shorts style that suits you. Personally, I’m not the biggest fan of my legs but I still have found one pair of shorts that are ultra flattering and go with everything – the trick is to literally try on every pair and every style until you find yours! We might not all pull it off like Lauren Conrad but we can try :-)

…make it a denim shirt! For the majority of people, the return of the denim shirt in 2010 was like the return of neon eyeshadow – it should have stayed in the 80′s. But I’m not in agreement, I think this is a great item that can be styled in lots of ways to keep it fresh and modern. And not a perm in sight!
