Its all about to kick off…

Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week starts here on Monday, and already the city is getting that style buzz… I’ve spotted a couple of models, lots of celebs and more than normal amounts of amazingly dressed beautiful people this weekend. I’m looking forward to seeing the Dior show Monday, Chanel, Givenchy & Stephane Rolland on Tuesday, and Elie Saab & Valentino on Wednesday – and by ‘seeing’ of course I mean online as opposed to actually attending the shows :-(

But we all know that the best part of fashion week is people watching! I love looking at all the street style, what the attendees are wearing, and what the models run about in from show to show. If I were to take a guess about what we’ll be seeing on those beautiful people on blogs in the coming weeks I’d say the following:

  • printed pants
  • bright bags
  • minimalist shoes
  • a move away from big bug-eye sunglasses
  • clashing textures
  • leather
  • statement necklaces

But I’d still be equally as happy if everyone could pull off Anja Rubik’s ‘black & white basics‘ look – but then again, she is in a league of her own…

Golden Globes 2012: A Review

One thing my family will say about me is that I hate to be disappointed. I generally hype stuff up no end, and then inevitably the thing can’t live up to my expectations. And that’s how I felt about last nights Golden Globes fashion… I was excited to see some of the beautiful creations I’d been fawning over the last couple of months on the leading ladies, to see some ‘Wow!‘ factor, to spot a dress that I immediately knew would be copied from here to eternity! And instead I got way too many plain dresses, an unreal amount of blush/nude tones, a whole pile of pink, and mermaid tails everywhere!!! If I had to pick my favourite I’d probably go with Claire Danes in J Mendel or Jessica Biel in Elie Saab. The looks I thought looked most decent are in the slideshow below…

Special mention goes to Nicole Richie for amazing hair, and Angelina Jolie for gorgeous makeup!

If you didnt get a chance to see any of the action on TV, this is a great clip of all the fashion ‘highlights‘ on the Red Carpet.

Roll on the Oscars for (hopefully) the showstoppers!!!

One to watch: Thalia Heffernan

Thalia Heffernan is without a doubt the hottest model in Ireland at the moment. Not only the most stunning girl on the scene there, but also the one that could have that ‘most likely to succeed‘ tag attached to her. Considering she is only 16 years old, this girl has a huge future ahead of her worldwide – I think she would fit the Paris look effortlessly. I’ll be keeping an eye on Thalia’s career over the next few years…

Penneys/Primark SS12

Since moving to Paris I havent exactly missed Penneys and my quick jaunts in there every weekend. But when I get home I do love to pop in and see if there is anything particularly amazing that I need to bring back to France with me. Their recent advert for the SS12 collection piqued my interest enough to go seek out some more images. I’m loving the candy shades, the slouchy blazers, mixed up prints, trims on collars and straight-from-the-runway bags. Keep an eye out in store for these soon…

Givenchy Pre Fall 2012

I wasn’t planning on another ‘Pre Fall‘ post but then Riccardo Tisci came along and changed all that! The man is a genius quite simply. Often the whole ‘pre’ season collections are treated with some scorn – with people thinking that the real effort and game changers are saved for the full collections. But that’s definitely not the case with Givenchy. From the slide show below I think we can tell that leather boots will play a big part in our A/W wardrobes, along with colours like olive mixed with bright prints. Perfection!!
